Jack Smith Spied on 8 GOP Senators, Grassley Reveals
by Catherine Salgado, PJ Media.com, October 6, 2025
FBI/Justice Department special counsel — and unconstitutionally appointed Biden attack dog — Jack Smith tracked the private communications of multiple Republican senators, according to a shocking new allegation.
Smith, whom U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon ruled was unconstitutionally appointed to go after then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, has a myriad of scandals in his past — including accusations of witness payoffs and illegal wiretaps from former Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.). But this new scandal shows that the scope of Smith’s sketchy activities under the Biden administration was much larger than previously realized.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) posted a partially redacted document on X Monday showing, he said, that the Biden FBI spied on Republican senators in an initiative weaponized by Smith:
This document shows the Biden FBI spied on 8 of my Republican Senate colleagues during its Arctic Frost investigation into "election conspiracy" Arctic Frost later became Jack Smith's elector case against Trump

Fox News obtained the alarming revelations first, posting on X, “Former Special Counsel Jack Smith was reportedly tracking the private communications and phone calls of nearly a dozen Republican senators as part of his January 6 investigation, FOX News Digital has learned."

The Republican senators targeted by Smith and the FBI were Josh Hawley of Missouri, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and GOP Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, per Fox’s article. The document was titled “ARCTIC FROST—Election Law Matters—SENSITIVE INVESTIGATIVE MATTER—CAST.”
One of Smith’s special agents “conducted preliminary toll analysis” on the senators’ records. Smith and his team not only viewed the phone numbers the senators called but the locations of both parties. The surveillance was reportedly tied to the campaign related to the 2020 election certification vote.
FBI Director Patel Takes Action against those Involved
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says it has taken swift action, terminating employees and disbanding the CR-15 squad, following revelations that private communications and phone calls of Republican lawmakers were tracked. The firings follow reports on Monday that former Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Counsel Jack Smith surveilled private phone calls—and tracked the private phones—of eight Republican lawmakers.
FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the issue on Tuesday, stating, “We are cleaning up a diseased temple three decades in the making—identifying the rot, removing those who weaponized law enforcement for political purposes and those who do not meet the standards of this mission while restoring integrity to the FBI. I promised reform, and I intend to deliver it.”
Patel also posted on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability, writing, “We terminated employees, we abolished the weaponized CR-15 squad, and we initiated an ongoing investigation with more accountability measures ahead.” FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino echoed Patel’s sentiments, stating, “We promised you transparency and accountability. We will continue to deliver on those promises. You deserve better.”
The CR-15 squad, which was part of the FBI’s Washington Field Office’s public corruption unit, had been involved in investigations led by former Special Counsel Jack Smith. Notably, the unit played a significant role in Smith’s investigation of President Donald J. Trump. Smith and his team, under the code name “Arctic Frost,” allegedly tracked the phone calls of nearly a dozen GOP lawmakers, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Josh Hawley (R-MO), as part of their inquiry into the January 6 Capitol riots.
Outrage by Complicit Senators is Called Out by Julie Kelly
So apparently we are supposed to be shocked at this development and revelation that Jack Smith, the lowlife degenerate, and his team of thugs, colluded to expand their powers to not only take down Donald Trump and some of his aides, but of course, members of Congress. So color me not shocked. I’m not surprised. Apparently, Josh Hawley is really surprised at this and you know, wants an investigation and Marsha Blackburn want answers.
So what do you want answers for? I want answers, actually. We are the ones who are entitled to answers, not the least of which is why, when Jack Smith was brazenly abusing his power and as the only reporter on our side who covered Jack Smith in both cases going to the courthouse in Florida, numerous times, going to Washington, following all the court filings and briefs, where have you guys been? You know where you were in 2023 and 2024? When Jack Smith was on his rampage with his team of thug prosecutors and investigators working hand-in-glove with Obama appointees who are chief judges at the D.C. District Court?
You guys were funding Jack Smith to the tune of $50 million, to the tune of a total of at least $100 million spent by the Biden DOJ before and after Jack Smith was appointed special counsel in November of 2022. I raised many times. Where’s this updated report? Was supposed to frequently tell Congress what he was spending money on. No. They just were signing the checks.
