The Real Charlie Kirk Effect will be Christians Voting!
by Tom Zawistowski, President, We the People Convention, September 27, 2025
The Charlie Kirk effect is real. Thousands are coming to faith in Jesus. We all agree that God has a plan. And unfortunately, his plan was for Charlie Kirk to become a martyr. And as much as that hurt you and me personally, we had no choice but to accept that plan. And we have seen an amazing, amazing thing happen. Amazing thing happened where people are going to church like never before. The evidence of, I mean, people are saying there were more people at mass the weekend after Charlie Kirk's shooting and since then than there is at Christmas time. Much has been said and written about Charlie Kirk's approaches, sharing the gospel by an open debate on college campuses. Whether you're a fan of Charlie Kirk or not, and regardless of your political views and the extraordinary events following his tragic death cannot be ignored. In the weeks since the shooting, something remarkable has been unfolding. Thousands upon thousands of young people are not only exploring Christianity, but actually turning up in churches, praying and professing faith in Jesus Christ. For those of us sometime wonder if the gospel still works in a post-Christian, skeptical culture. This is your answer. Churches are full. The rallies. . . They had a rally at the University of Minnesota. Big crowd. Michael Knowles did a great job with that. Megan, Kelly and Youngkin were at Virginia Tech . Huge crowd for the turning point thing.
Then there was the very interesting news that after Charlie Kirk's death, the early voting in the Virginia governor's race has skyrocketed. And there was a chart I saw that I should have grabbed so I could show you. But in several Virginia counties, the early voting for Sears, the Republican woman who's running, was at 82% of the Trump vote from last year, have already voted early, and another one was 77 and another one is 72. In the Democrat counties, the early voting is like 33%. Winsome Sears, who was out of it, I think is going to win Virginia. That's huge in news. In new Jersey, the Republican is is going to win. I think the Democrat contender is a disaster. There's been all kinds of stuff leaked about, you know, she could not attend graduation at West Point because she violated the rules. There's all kinds of other documents leaking about her and the Republican is giong to win New Jersey!
I think the Charlie Kirk effect is like MAHA. Normal political consultants had no understanding of MAHA. Make America healthy again. When I told you, when you listen to this podcast, I said MAHA is the key to Trump winning. Because I knew from our Tea Party days how many of our people and how many other people weren't conservative, believed in fighting the vaccines, believed in eating healthy, believe in getting the chemicals out of food. They came out and voted for Trump and he won because they did.
I think the Charlie Kirk effect, this spiritual renewal in America, is even bigger. It's even bigger, and it's going to have a profound effect on next year's House and Senate elections and state elections and everything. But here's the most important point. And this is a direct ask. If you're new to this program, you know, this program is dedicated to protecting and defending our individual freedom, liberty and prosperity. I will ask you in this show to do things. This is a direct ask because here's what most people don't even understand. Here's what most people understand. Christians don't vote. So we're having this Christian revival, but they gotta vote. And that's going to be the turning point. That will be the real Charlie Kirk effect.
A reasonable ballpark is somewhere between 35 and 50% of self-identified Christians either are not registered to vote or choose not to vote. And it's like 30% aren't even registered. And then others choose not to vote. And there's various reasons for this, but that has to change. And quite frankly, the reason Donald Trump was ever elected president was because in Ohio, I and the life groups in Ohio convinced Christians in Ohio to vote for Trump, who wasn't exactly the model of Christianity in 2016. And that's why Trump won Ohio.
But now it's got to go further. Get these numbers. There are roughly 62% of U.S. adults who self-identify as Christians. That means roughly 170 million out of 270 million adults, 170 million say they're Christian. If Christians voted, Democrats could never win another election anywhere. Christians, do you understand? All of you need to understand how powerful this is.
Okay, so if 44% of them aren't registered or don't vote - That's 75 million votes. That's how many total votes Kamala Harris got in 2024! So, the number of Christians who don't vote is equal to all the lefty lunatics who voted for Kamala. Do you understand? It's no freaking contest. If Christians wake up and understand what Charlie Kirk was telling them, that the Bible requires you to fight Satan, to fight evil, to defend the church and the good and our children and life. You do that by voting. You do that by voting. So what is your charge? What is your task to do? You. All of us. We need to talk to everyone we know who's a Christian and ask them if they are registered to vote and if they are not registered to vote. You've got to register them!
Because if you want to save this country, that's the way you do it. Now you understand the Charlie Kirk effect is real. Showing up at church is great and important. But you got to register to vote. How about if at churches you start having voter registration forms? How about if you talk to your pastor and say and share this segment with them and say, do you understand? If we just do what the Bible says and vote, we can change the whole world. How about taking voter registration forms to church and asking, are you registered to vote? When they say no, say, fill this out, and if they fill it out, say, I'll take it to the Board of Elections for you myself to make sure they register. Don't just give them the form. Have them fill it out, and then you take it to the Board of Elections. This is the Charlie Kirk effect on steroids. This is how we protect and defend our individual freedom, liberty and prosperity. This is how we defeat Satan and Evil and the Communist Left and the Muslims!
THIS HAS TO BE PART OF THE CHARLIE KIRK EFFECT:
Given the data, a reasonable ballpark estimate is that somewhere between 35 % and 50 % of self-identified Christians either are not registered to vote or choose not to vote in a given election (i.e., they do not cast ballots).
How Christians approach voting today
- Many Christians view voting as a stewardship responsibility—using their influence to seek justice, protect the vulnerable, and promote moral good.
- Others believe that remaining separate from politics better reflects biblical teaching, keeping their focus solely on spiritual matters.
The 44 % nonvoting inferred from the CRC’s 56 % turnout is perhaps the most concrete figure available from recent data.
As of the most recent data, about 62 % of U.S. adults self-identify as Christian. Pew Research Center+2Pew Research Center+2
To put that into a rough number:
- The U.S. adult population is around 260–270 million (depending on cutoff age and year).
- 62 % of that is roughly ≈ 160–170 million adults who identify as Christian.
