True the Vote Responds to Open Letter of Arizona Attorney General’s Office
The letter sent by the Arizona AG’s office and simultaneously released to media is false and smacks of retribution for the AG’s own decision to ignore suspicious voting activity. Indeed, True the Vote’s first meeting with the AZ AG’s team was on June 3, 2021. After receiving no feedback, True the Vote followed up by filing a complaint with the State of Arizona on March 28, 2022 and followed up with multiple meetings with state investigators.
To True the Vote’s surprise, they later learned that these investigators violated the confidentiality that should have been afforded to informants in an ongoing criminal investigation, by the AG’s office releasing to media the identity of private citizens who had provided information. It was clear that the intent of this was to chill the investigation and send a warning to those who had mistakenly believed law enforcement would protect them. True the Vote lawyers sent a letter affirming these facts to the Arizona AG’s office on June 14th, 2022, and referring them to federal law enforcement, as True the Vote no longer trusted the state office.
Arizona attorney general requests FBI and IRS investigate 2,000 Mules-linked group
by Brady Knox, Washington Examiner, October 16, 2022
Arizona's top state prosecutor requested that the FBI and Internal Revenue Service investigate a conservative nonprofit group featured in the controversial documentary 2,000 Mules.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican, claims True the Vote has refused to cooperate with state investigators and won't share evidence it put forward in the Dinesh D'Souza documentary, which raised ballot-harvesting allegations that have fueled claims of widespread election fraud in the 2020 election. His office also claims that the group has used the claims to raise large sums of money, prompting the call for an investigation by the IRS.
True the Vote claims it has already shared the data with Arizona prosecutors, something the letter from Brnovich's office asking for an investigation calls "patently false."

"TTV alleges it has in its possession geolocation data from a number of mobile devices showing those mobile devices making several trips in which it is said people are walking to, from, or past ballot drop boxes," Chief Special Agent Reginald "Reggie" Grigsby wrote in the letter. "Information has not been provided as to the specific location, whether or not there is in fact a drop box at that location, nor is there any information on the person(s) who may be in possession of the mobile device. TTV did not provide any video evidence to support claims of ballot box stuffing. TTV is adamant it has evidence of ballot stuffing and voting fraud. However, when asked to provide the information, which Ms. Engelbrecht and Mr. Phillips promised to do, TTV never provided the information."
"TTV has raised considerable sums of money alleging they had evidence of widespread voter fraud and their efforts would train the public to protect election integrity at the polls and to help protect all voters’ rights. They indicate they have provided the information to law enforcement agencies; in our case they have not after promising to do so. Another law enforcement agency has also stated they have not provided them the information, informing them they had given the information to us," the letter concludes. "Given TTV's status as a nonprofit organization, it would appear that further review of its financials may be warranted."
The information the letter lays out points out "potential violations" of the tax code given the conservative group's 501(c)3 nonprofit status. On its website, True the Vote claims that it has been in contact with law enforcement and other officials.
"We did involve federal and state officials and law enforcement and are working with those who wish to act. Unfortunately, some are not willing to work with us which is why we are encouraging all Americans to take action in their state to ensure free and fair elections," the post says.
