Trump Keeps Attacking the DC Beauracracy by Elimination Unnecessary Agencies
by YourNews Media, March 15, 2025
President Donald Trump signed an executive order late Friday directing the dismantling of eight federal agencies, marking a major step in his administration’s efforts to reduce bureaucracy and streamline government operations.
The March 14 order, detailed in a White House release, mandates the closure of non-legally required functions, staff reductions, and a shift to bare-minimum statutory roles. Agency heads have been given seven days to report compliance or provide justifications for retaining functions.
A White House fact sheet states the initiative is aimed at enhancing accountability, cutting waste, and promoting efficiency. The agencies slated for closure include:
- Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service
- United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM)
- Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
- Institute of Museum and Library Services
- United States Interagency Council on Homelessness
- Community Development Financial Institutions Fund
- Minority Business Development Agency
- Arctic Research Commission
The USAGM, which oversees Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Asia, has been a longstanding target of Trump’s efforts to address government-funded media bias. With a $900 million budget and operations in over 60 languages, the agency has been criticized for its ideological leanings.
Trump has nominated Brent Bozell, a conservative media watchdog, to lead the USAGM, but his confirmation remains pending. Meanwhile, Kari Lake, a former news anchor and Arizona gubernatorial candidate, has been appointed to lead VOA, vowing reforms while acknowledging calls to dismantle the network.
Following Trump’s order, Lake issued a social media post on Saturday, advising VOA staff to check their emails, noting that multiple employees had already received administrative leave notices with full pay and benefits.

The executive order builds upon Trump’s February 19 directive aimed at reducing federal bureaucracy, eliminating non-essential agencies, and minimizing statutory functions.
At the forefront of this restructuring effort is Elon Musk, whom Trump appointed as a special government employee overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The initiative has already resulted in 100,000 potential job cuts within the 2.3 million-member federal workforce, foreign aid freezes, and the termination of thousands of contracts, amounting to $115 billion in taxpayer savings, according to DOGE’s latest report.
Trump has set a goal for DOGE to identify $2 trillion in wasteful spending before its scheduled dissolution on July 4, 2026.
A recent poll found broad public support for DOGE’s efforts, though many respondents called for increased transparency and accountability in revealing government waste.
Trump has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cutting federal spending and reforming government operations, vowing to continue efforts to “drain the swamp” as part of his broader restructuring agenda.
