In the era where they refuse to accept their irrelevance, billionaires and their political money are easy parted. So goes the game of grift amid the professional political class when contrast against the power of We The People. It’s actually quite funny to watch and doesn’t annoy me one bit.
Charles Koch, a man of notorious disposition who loves open borders and multinational trade – which puts him on the outside of the America First movement, had previously pledged to spend $70 million (through his Americans For Prosperity political action committee) to remove President Trump. Today, Charles Koch selected Nikki Haley over Ron DeSantis to be the vessel for his effort.

The conservative U.S. political network headed by billionaire Charles Koch on Tuesday endorsed Nikki Haley for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, saying she was the best candidate to beat President Joe Biden next year.
It is the latest boost for the former South Carolina governor who has seen her stock rise with strong debate performances and improving poll numbers.
Her traditional conservative positions also align with the Koch network, which uses its money to push for tax cuts and less government regulation.
'In addition, our internal polling consistently shows that Nikki Haley is by far the strongest candidate Republicans could put up against Joe Biden in a general election – winning every key battleground state and up nationally by nearly 10 points.'
She said polls also showed that Republicans were ready to move on from Trump.
Haley is currently battling Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for second place in the race. Neither has made much of a dent in the former president's overwhelming lead, with only 48 days before Republicans in Iowa gather to make their nomination.
The backing of a super PAC set up by industrialist brothers Charles and David Koch, whose family business is the second biggest privately held company in the country, could dramatically change the dynamics of the race.
It will back her campaign with the sort of field workers, call centers and direct mail operations that she has lacked until now.
'I'm honored to have the support of Americans for Prosperity Action, including its millions of grass-roots members all across the country,' said Haley. 'A.F.P. Action’s members know that there is too much at stake in this election to sit on the sidelines.'
The DeSantis campaign could not disguise its irritation.
Spokesman Andrew Romeo posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: 'Congratulations to Donald Trump on securing the Koch endorsement. Like clockwork, the pro-open borders, pro-jail break bill establishment is lining up behind a moderate who has no mathematical pathway of defeating the former president.'
Koch's net worth is estimated at $50 billion by Forbes.
He and his brother built their wealth in the family business, and used their wealth to push a mix of conservative and libertarian agendas.
Their network of interests back Republican candidates but had had something of a love-hate relationship with Trump.
Although they welcomed tax cuts and the confirmation of three conservative Supreme Court justices, their more conventional Republican positions were sometimes at odds with Trump's America First populism.
'The globalist Koch Brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade,' the then president said in a 2018 tweet storm.
'I have never sought their support because I don't need their money or bad ideas.'
The group did not back his 2020 reelection campaign.
His 2024 campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Americans for Prosperity had chosen, 'to endorse a pro-China, open borders, and globalist candidate in Nikki "Birdbrain" Haley.
'No amount of shady money from George Soros, Democrats, and Never Trump RINOs in partnership with endless-war swamp creatures in Washington will stop the MAGA movement or President Trump from being the Republican nominee and defeating Crooked Joe Biden.'
Be of good cheer; this endorsement by Charles Koch is actually quite funny. Considering that Koch previously supported Ken Cuccinelli, we can imagine the big sad in the DeSantis camp. lolol
