WTPC Urges State AG's To Push SCOTUS to Take Up Jan 6th Appeal that will Now Affect Trump Case
Akron, OH: Today, Tom Zawistowski, President of the TEA Party affiliated national We the People Convention (WTPC) Organization, delivered a letter to Dave Yost, Ohio Attorney General and President of the National Association of State Attorney's General Organization, asking him and his organization and other State AG's to urge the US Supreme Court to immediately take up the Appeal of 18 U.S.C. Section 1512(c)(2) which was filed by Attorney's for Political Prisoner Jake Lang last week.
Zawistowski made the case in his letter that "This Appeal has taken on new urgency in light of the effect that it could have on the future of our nation and particularly the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election." Zawistowski noted that DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith is about to arrest and indict former President Donald J. Trump for his actions surrounding the January 6, 2021 protest at the United States Capitol and will be using 18 U.S.C. Section 1512(c)(2) “obstructing an official proceeding” as the main charge against President Trump. Zawistowski asked in his letter that "you personally and that your organization write to the Supreme Court and ask them to take up this Appeal immediately."
Zawistowski closed his letter by saying " Due to the Constitutional Crisis this politicized prosecution of the former President of the United States and the current leading candidate to be elected President in 2024 is causing, I can think of nothing more important for you or your organization to do right now than to make this emergency appeal to the Supreme Court - for the good of our Republic."
Zawistowski urged citizens to COPY our Letter and Send it to the Attorney General in their State and ask them to write to the Supreme Court as well. Attorney General Yost,
I am writing to you about an issue of great state and national importance and for which timely action is required. As you are most certainly aware, the DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith is about to arrest and indict former President Donald J. Trump for his actions surrounding the January 6, 2021 protest at the United States Capitol. As with all cases involving those charged by the DOJ with criminal acts on January 6, 2021, the DOJ is using 18 U.S.C. Section 1512(c)(2) “obstructing an official proceeding” as the main charge and is going to charge President Trump with the same felony.
As you may not know, the DOJ/FBI’s use of 18 U.S.C. Section 1512(c)(2) has been very controversial as this law has never before been applied in the way that it is being applied against January 6, 2021 protestors. In fact, last week, the lawyers for one of the January 6th Political Prisoners, Jake Lang, filed an Appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court (copy attached) asking the Supreme Court to rule on the proper application of this law. This Appeal has taken on new urgency in light of the effect that it could have on the future of our nation and particularly the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
I am writing to you, not just as the Attorney General of Ohio but also as the President of the National Association of Attorney's General, to ask that you personally and that your organization write to the Supreme Court and ask them to take up this Appeal immediately and to encourage other State Attorney Generals to do the same. Due to the Constitutional Crisis this politicized prosecution of the former President of the United States and the current leading candidate to be elected President in 2024 is causing, I can think of nothing more important for you or your organization to do right now than to make this emergency appeal to the Supreme Court - for the good of our Republic. We ask that you take immediate action on this request.

Thomas R. Zawistowski
