Authorities operating under the Memphis Safe Task Force have recorded over 4,000 arrests since the initiative’s launch less than three months ago.
The U.S. Marshals Service, the head agency of the Memphis Safe Task Force, announced that the number of arrests made since the initiative launched in the city on September 29 surpassed the 4,000 arrest mark earlier this week.
As of Monday, authorities have made over 4,081 arrests including 401 gang members, seized 629 firearms and “substantial quantities of narcotics and related contraband,” located 123 missing children, and executed more than 1,800 arrest warrants.
Data published by the City of Memphis shows that the number of murders during the same duration of time last year are down 42.5 percent, robberies are down 60 percent, sexual assaults are down 45 percent, motor vehicle thefts are down 69 percent, and aggravated assaults are down 40 percent from the beginning of the task force’s operations through Wednesday.
The U.S. Marshals Service noted that the over 400 gang members arrested so far under the task force “all have a nexus to gang ties through either affiliation or membership” of groups including the Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Young Mob, Los Serranos, Tren de Agua, EBG (Everybody Killa), Piru Bloods, Grape Street Crips, Kings Gate Mafia, and other factions of Bloods and Crips, among additional gangs.

Gadyaces S. Serralta, Director of the U.S. Marshals Service and Chair of the Memphis Safe Task Force, said the initiative in Memphis is “about more than numbers, it is about upholding the rule of law, ensuring accountability, and creating safer neighborhoods where families can thrive.”
“The long‑lasting effects of this work will be felt throughout communities across Memphis, and it is a testament to what can be achieved when county, local, state, and federal partners stand shoulder to shoulder in pursuit of justice,” Serralta added. “We will not relent in our mission to uphold the law, ensure accountability, and deliver justice. Together, we are building a safer Memphis, one that will endure for generations to come.”
