Federal border authorities are registering Palestinian migrants who illegally cross into the U.S. as nationalities other than Palestinian, according to statements from the former chief of Border Patrol, Rodney Scott, and an unnamed current agency official, The Daily Caller News Foundation reported.
Evidence supporting this claim includes confirmation from both current and former agency officials. Additionally, the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) has acquired screenshots of the Border Patrol’s internal system. These screenshots show that “Palestine” does not appear as a category, and searching for it yields “no matches.” Further, an internal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) memo, which was first obtained by the DCNF, alerts authorities to be vigilant for potential Palestinian terrorists crossing the southern border.
Further inquiry reveals that the Border Patrol’s country of origin classification system lacks categories for both Gaza and the West Bank. Former Border Patrol Chief, Rodney Scott, explained the documentation process to the DCNF, stating, “There is no written policy on how to record a Palestinian. In my experience, since this falls within the legal borders of Israel, individuals would be documented as Israel. The narrative, which is not easily searchable, might explain that the individual identifies as Palestinian, but it’s solely dependent on what the agent chooses to include and the information they have time to obtain.”

For context, a May report from the Congressional Research Service indicates that around 1.6 million Palestinians are Israeli citizens. Meanwhile, over 5.7 million Palestinians are considered refugees residing in locations like Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
In discussions with the DCNF, one agent, who chose to remain anonymous due to not being authorized for public comments, shared their experience of processing Palestinians. They noted, “I processed some Palestinians before this all popped off,” and mentioned they registered them as Israeli, despite these individuals holding passports from the Palestinian Authority.
Two additional agents echoed this sentiment, with one stating, “When I looked in our processing module, no such category exists,” and another affirming, “It’s not an option in the processing module.”
Despite these claims and inquiries, CBP has not provided any comments on the matter.
