WE HAVE ONE QUESTION FOR GOVERNOR DEWINE ---
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMNED MIND?"
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMNED MIND?"
Akron, OH: Tom Zawistowski, President of the TEA Party affiliated We the People Convention, lashed out at Ohio Governor Mike DeWine for completely botching the Coronavirus situation in Ohio. Zawistowski called DeWine's decision Monday to declare a "State of Emergency" in Ohio, after only three cases of Coronavirus were confirmed in Cuyahoga County, an "unnecessary" and "uneducated" decision. Zawistowski posted a seven minute video on social media and on his website, www.WethePeopleConvention.org, pointing out how DeWine has lost all perspective, and how his preventive measures were more damaging to people than the potential effects of the disease itself.
Then today, DeWine went even further, after announcing just a single new case of the virus in Ohio, he used that to order that all public schools in Ohio be closed for three weeks, banned any public gathering of more than 100 people with a few exceptions, and cancelled attendance at all professional sporting events, all college sporting events and all high school sporting events. In essence shutting down the state and our economy and unnecessarily scaring citizens with his over-reaction to a serious but manageable medical problem.
Zawistowski asked, "Governor DeWine, have you lost your damned mind? We are a state of 11.66 million people and you put us all in lockdown because five people have the Cornonavirus? Really? Ten years ago when the Swine Flu infected 60 million Americans and killed 10,000, there were no shutdowns. The common flu kills 50,000 people per year, and there are no shutdowns! Now you are going to disrupt our lives, threaten our jobs, and destroy our hard built businesses because you said in your email yesterday that "we don't get it?" Let's get something straight -- You and your medical advisors really have no idea of how the Coronavirus is going to play because nobody really has enough information about it yet. You insult our intelligence when you try to compare us to Italy and China when you know full well that our resources are vastly greater than anyone else in the world. Mostly your actions are an insult to the citizens of Ohio and our values and our strength and our ability to confront adversity and overcome it."
Zawistowski continued, "We have a message for you, Governor: We the People know that none of your ill-advised measures are going to stop the vast majority of us from getting infected with the Coronavirus. No virus can be "contained" or has ever been contained and we know that. We the People know that some of us, and our loved ones, may become sick and may die, just as some of us die from the regular flu and have died from past flues. We the People know it is OUR responsibility to take care of ourselves, and them, to try and prevent that outcome -- NOT YOURS. We the People know that 98% of us will not die from this flu and that the best way to fight this virus is for us to build up immunities to it since a vaccine is at least a year away. We the People know that we need to keep going to work, doing our jobs, going to church, going to ball games and living our lives, and not be afraid. We are not children and YOU, Governor, nor the State Government, are our parents. We will decide when to keep our children home from school; we will decide when to stay home from work; we will decide how to take care of our health - NOT YOU! Get the hell out of our lives and just do your damned job of making sure the resources are available to our healthcare professionals and the public is informed about the facts on the ground in our communities. We will take care of the rest."
Zawistowski urges all citizens who feel similarly about the Governor's actions to call the Governor's office at (614) 644-4357 or send him an email using this webform: https://governor.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/governor/contact.
