Replace Dr. Acton Today - General Assembly Must Step In NOW

PRESS RELEASE

DR. ACTON MUST BE REPLACED TODAY
AND OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY MUST STEP IN NOW

Akron, OH: Tom Zawistowski, President of the TEA Party affiliated We the People Convention, called on Governor DeWine to replace Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton immediately due to provable incompetence. He also called on the Republican-controlled Ohio House and Senate to step in and act now to protect and defend the estimated 1,389,950 Ohioans who have lost their jobs and the estimated 113,670 business owners who may have to permanently close their doors in the next two weeks.

Zawistowski said, "Dr. Acton must be relieved of her position immediately based on the video this organization produced and distributed yesterday, which has been viewed by over 50,000 people in less than 24 hours, where Dr. Deborah Birx made it clear that Dr. Acton has been completely wrong from the beginning about what she thought was going on in Ohio regarding the threat to Ohioans by the Coronavirus. Dr. Acton's bad advice to Governor DeWine was further proven by the admission yesterday by Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson of the Imperial College of London that his Coronavirus "model" was so flawed that he had to revise his projection down from 500,000 dying in the UK to "20,000" - just 4% of his previous prediction. Dr. Amy Acton, and tragically many of her peers, have been relying almost solely on Dr. Ferguson's ridiculous claims since they were first published and has been wrongfully advising Governor DeWine that Ohio was facing a literal apocalypse. These dire predictions rightfully panicked Ohio citizens and the Governor into taking egregious actions that are not saving lives but destroying the lives of millions of Ohioans."

Zawistowski continued, "All that we really know about the Coronavirus is that the "experts" don't yet have the data they need to know much of anything about the virus. Unfortunately, Dr. Acton is a big part of the problem because she has completely botched the testing in Ohio as proven by the fact that Ohio was the last state in the U.S. to start providing the CDC with the test results they are needing. For nearly seven weeks now, all Dr. Acton has been able to say about the state of the virus in Ohio is that she "really doesn't know" because she "doesn't have the data" and yet she is "sure that the virus will not peak in Ohio until May" - based on what? Based on nothing! That is why she must be replaced immediately."

Zawistowski added, "Now Dr. Acton is rejecting the Trump Coronavirus Task Force county level risk assessment plan because “We can’t assume anything about what is happening in any given community because we really can’t test for it,” Again, if she can't test for ANYTHING what is she basing her advice to the Governor and the people of Ohio on? Adjusting for Dr. Ferguson's "revised" model and applying it to the United States, he had projected that 2.2 million would die in the U.S. but now his model would predict total deaths to be 88,000 - just about the 80,000 who died from the 2009-10 swine flu. That would mean that Ohio could expect something in the range of 3,000 dead for the entire year from this virus. Very sad, but not out of the ordinary for the regular flu and certainly not worth shutting down nearly all private businesses in the state, nor ruining the lives of millions of Ohioans."

Zawistowski then said, "Let us be crystal clear, we are not in any way saying that the coronavirus is not a serious illness that may be worse than other flu's, or that we should take no action to protect Ohioans against it. Our actions should be consistent with the threat. Now that we have spent nearly three weeks staying away from each other, that should have "slowed" the virus as they told us it would. Yet Dr. Acton and Governor DeWine give citizens NO CREDIT for what we have done so far and keep predicting - using data we now know is untrue - the same "overwhelming of the health care system" that is being seen in New York and Italy when Ohio is NOT New York or Italy! We need to let everyone under 65 go back to work and when they go back to work they need to practice good health methods like cleaning surfaces, washing hands, not allowing sick people to come to work, etc. Particularly in rural counties in Ohio. We need to keep our nursing homes quarantined until we have drugs to help fight the virus. Perhaps restaurants and bars need to take the temperature of customers for a while until we have a vaccine for the coronavirus. The bottom line is I don't want a single person to lose their job, lose their business, or lose their education trying to protect my life because it is my job to protect my life and take appropriate actions to do so - not theirs. It's a matter of personal responsibility and that is what we are not seeing enough of in this emergency."

Zawistowski then turned to the General Assembly and said, "Senate Leader Larry Obhoff should be personally embarrassed by his lack of involvement in this man-made disaster in Ohio from the beginning. As a respected Constitutional scholar, Larry Obhoff knew that Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton had no legal authority to take the actions they were taking this month against the people of Ohio and yet he did NOTHING! Not even questioning the Governor about his decisions or his "facts", which are unnecessarily destroying people's lives, can only be described as negligent and a dereliction fo duty. At least House Speaker Householder tried to stop the Governor from illegally canceling the March 17, 2020 election."

Zawistowski concluded by saying, "As we saw earlier this week, it is the General Assembly that has the emergency powers in Ohio, and it is the General Assembly who is supposed to be representing the people in their House and Senate Districts. Yet those so-called "representatives" have done NOTHING to protect the thousands of people and business owners in EACH of their districts from being wrongly hurt by our state government based on panic and hysteria caused by bad counsel and advice. Let me say to the Legislators and Republican party leaders - this is a Republican problem, a Republican Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State have put these people out of work and destroyed their businesses. It is up to you to fix this both legally and morally or pay the price for not doing so."

Zawistowski finished by saying, "I don't want to hear that you are going to put together some damn committee to study the problem when you get around to it when millions of Ohioans are without a pay check TODAY. If you don't get back to work immediately - this weekend - and do what it takes to take away Dr. Acton's influence over Governor DeWine and insist that the Governor follow the Trump Coronavirus Task Force guidance going forward, then I think that every voter in Ohio who has lost their job, who has lost their business, or who knows someone who lost their job or business should "mail in" their vote before April 28th and vote out EVERY INCUMBENT ON THE BALLOT. I want to assure Mr. Obhoff and Mr. Householder that if We the People don't see appropriate action being taken, we will be happy to lead that effort to throw you all out of office because your pathetic lack of action deserves nothing less than removal from office."
