Gunman Opens Fire at ICE Dallas Office in 'Politically Motivated' Attack, Killing One, FBI Director Says
by Matthew Xiao, The Freebeacon.com, September 24, 2025
A gunman who had engraved a shell casing with the phrase "ANTI ICE" opened fire Wednesday morning at a Dallas ICE facility, in what FBI director Kash Patel called a "politically motivated" attack.
"This morning just before 7am local time, an individual fired multiple rounds at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility, killing one, wounding several others, before taking his own life," Patel wrote on X. "While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an idealogical [sic] motive behind this attack (see photo below). One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase 'ANTI ICE.'"

The bullets ended up hitting three detainees, killing one and injuring two, ABC News reported. Patel revealed in his X post that no law enforcement personnel were injured.
The shooting is the fourth assault on a Texas ICE facility this year. In August, police arrested a man who claimed to have a bomb at the same Dallas office. On July 4, a group of assailants shot a local officer in the neck during a coordinated strike on the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth. Days later, police killed a gunman who opened fire on a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, injuring two officers and a staffer.
Click: The Atlantic Admits Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise
The United States in recent months has seen a rise of left-wing political violence targeting ICE officers and conservative figures. This month alone, a left-wing assassin murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk, while a gunman who left behind anti-Trump writings shot up an ABC affiliate's Sacramento office. White House border czar Tom Homan said in July that attacks on ICE officers are "up nearly 700 percent now."
"These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off," Patel wrote in his post. "It has to end and the FBI and our partners will lead these investigative efforts to see to it that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice."
