The EU (May Have) Just Murdered Western Civilization . . .

Western civilization took 3,000 years to create, but only one day to murder. On January 27, 2026, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new trade deal. This includes an India-EU Comprehensive Framework of Cooperation on Mobility. This mobility agreement “will ease movement” from India to European Union (EU) members for highly skilled workers, students, researchers, and seasonal workers. It also contains the first EU Legal Gateway Office in India to add rocket fuel to the population movement from India to the EU.

While it has not received much attention in America, it should. The EU just murdered the West.

It opened the doors of Europe to what is sure to be the movement of tens of millions of Indians to Europe. We have seen this before. In 2015, and in direct violation of the EU’s Dublin Regulation (or Protocol), German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened Germany’s, and Europe’s, border to mass migration. Wir schaffen das—”We can manage this,” she said at the time. Consequently, German cities and German identity, and European cities and identities have come under assault. Mass immigration brought violent crime, including murder and rape, and destroyed the fabric of these high-trust societies.  Fundamentally, it advanced the dissolution of these countries and of Western civilization.

The EU’s new mobility deal with India accelerates mass migration, risking national identity, public safety, and what critics warn is the rapid unraveling of Western civilization.

It is not just the EU. In the United Kingdom, the Labour government under Keir Starmer went from “smash the gangs” that are facilitating endless illegal Channel crossings by overwhelmingly men from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, when Labour was on the campaign trail, to doing everything it can to welcome them now that Labour is in government. Hundreds of thousands of young men have been distributed around the UK, with more to come. Britons may be imprisoned for a tweet and are jailed at numbers that demonstrate the great freedoms of British people—hard-won through civil war, wars, and struggles—are being lost. There is a proposal by the Labour government to suspend trial by jury in some circumstances. “Amelia,” the AI-generated purple-haired British schoolgirl, has become a major voice of opposition. Mass protests, including in Epping, Bristol, and Tommy Robinson’s “Unite the Kingdom” in September in London, showed that the population had had enough. But the Labour government does not care.

Europe’s and the UK’s disastrous choices on endless mass immigration did not escape the notice of the Trump administration. The National Security Strategy of the United States (NSS) noted that Europe was on the path to “civilizational erasure.” Western civilization is being obliterated. As the NSS stated, “The larger issues facing Europe include activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political liberty and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating strife, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, cratering birthrates, and loss of national identities and self-confidence.”

The NSS continued: “Should present trends continue, the continent will be unrecognizable in 20 years or less.” Given the new EU-India agreement, the smart money is on less, much less. The agreement is likely to come into effect in 2027, so by the time Donald Trump leaves office, Europe may have many millions more immigrants, whose numbers are certain to expand many times because of family unification.

Mass immigration has been flowing into the EU through three major routes: 1) Mauritania-Canary Islands to Spain; 2) Libya to Italy; and 3) from Turkey. What the EU just did is open a fourth path of mass immigration from the Indian subcontinent. Only someone who wanted to destroy Western civilization could devise this plan.

Von der Leyen just gave a huge middle finger to the Trump administration and to Western civilization. It is time for the Trump administration to respond. Western civilization is a national security issue. The EU does not get to destroy Western civilization. Uncle Sam gets a veto. Indeed, all proponents of Western civilization should be thankful to the administration for identifying civilizational erasure as a national security issue.

Now it is time to act, and urgently. The EU is free to reach any agreement with anyone it likes. It is also free to incur the costs of its actions. Uncle Sam has to look at his menu of options. There are a lot of tools in the toolkit to increase the costs. These include tariffs. America is free to impose tariffs on anyone. If the EU does not abandon this agreement and close the other pathways of mass immigration and have specific remigration targets that are met, then it should face 500 percent tariffs. The EU may then choose whether it wants endless mass immigration or trade with the world’s largest market.

In addition, the U.S. could create a new trade association with states like Poland and Hungary that recognize the danger with the intent of advancing trade, but also providing a non-EU alternative for European states.

Furthermore, intelligence cooperation between the U.S. and the “Five Eyes”—the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand—has to be reevaluated. The U.S. also provides intelligence to NATO, which should be as well.  If the EU does not change course today, intelligence and military cooperation must be reconsidered. European states must incur real costs to prevent the destruction of our civilization.

Again, the evil mediocrities running the EU do not get to erase Western civilization. Americans get a voice—in fact, the dominant voice, now that it has come to it.

Fundamentally, the U.S. has three major problems with the EU, UK, and Canada. First, the EU, UK, and Canada are becoming increasingly totalitarian. Second, they have de facto an open borders policy and are importing immigrants by the many tens of millions. Third, neither the EU’s nor Starmer’s nor Carney’s governments will alter that policy. In fact, they are expanding, despite great support for political parties and some countries like Hungary, which stand opposed.

The cost of these policies is the intentional destruction of Europe, the UK, and Canada by endless immigration backed by the full coercive power of Brussels, London, and Ottawa.  The consequence is the death of Western civilization.  This is a major national security threat. Costs imposed upon the EU, UK, and Canada for continuing endless immigration are simply not high enough.

The EU’s leadership is not a friend, and it is not a frenemy. It is worse. The EU is increasingly directly opposed to U.S. national security. If the EU does not change its policies, it is past its sell-by date. If other measures will not work, then now is the time to link security to mass remigration, with targets and specific dates for each EU member, the UK, and Canada. Mass immigration is destroying NATO, European states, and Western civilization.  That is an existential cost—massive and unacceptable.  Now is the time for real costs to be imposed on the EU to save the West.
