Great news!
Joe DiGenova, a former US Attorney under Reagan, will oversee the Spygate probe in Florida after the DOJ removed a Deep State prosecutor who was stonewalling and slow-walking charges against John Brennan.
The Justice Department on Friday removed Maria Medetis, a career federal prosecutor who was slow-walking charges against John Brennan.
Former CIA Director John Brennan is the “target” of the grand jury Russiagate probe in South Florida.
Last July, it was reported that former FBI Director James Comey and John Brennan were under FBI investigation over their involvement in Russiagate.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred Brennan and Comey for prosecution over the summer.
US Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones in the Southern District of Florida is in charge of the investigation.
On Friday, CNN reported that the DOJ abruptly removed Maria Medetis for stonewalling and slow-walking charges against Brennan.
“Maria Medetis Long on Friday notified attorneys representing people involved in the case that she was no longer handling the investigation, the people familiar with the matter said. She has led the politically sensitive probe for months amid demands from Trump to prosecute Brennan and other critics,” the outlet reported.
CNN reported that career prosecutors in the South Florida office are pushing back and claiming there isn’t a strong enough case to bring charges against Brennan.
“The career prosecutors and investigators handling the case have for months pushed back against demands to quickly bring charges against Brennan, CNN reported, and have signaled to Justice Department officials they don’t believe the case is a strong one. Still, they have continued to work toward possibly bringing it in federal court in Washington, DC,” CNN reported.
On Saturday, CBS reported that the DOJ brought in DiGenova to oversee the Spygate probe. He will serve as counselor to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, according to CBS News.
CBS News reported:
Joseph DiGenova, a conservative attorney who previously represented President Trump’s campaign when it challenged the results of the 2020 election, is being tapped by the U.S. Justice Department to lead an ongoing criminal investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan, a Justice Department official said on Saturday.
DiGenova, who will oversee the probe from the Southern District of Florida, is joining the team just days after Maria Medetis Long was removed from the case, CBS News previously reported. He will serve as counselor to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, the official added.
Joe DiGenova and his wife, Victoria Toensing, worked on Trump’s 2020 election cases.
DiGenova, a longtime vocal Trump supporter who also did legal work for the president, is a veteran and accomplished federal prosecutor who has worked as a U.S. Attorney in the nation's capital as well as an independent and special counsel in politically sensitive cases.
As the chief federal prosecutor in the nation's capital under President Ronald Reagan, diGenova led a sprawling corruption prosecution of D.C. Mayor Marion Barry that secured a dozen convictions, and he also prosecuted convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard.
Later, he was named an Independent Counsel in a Bush administration probe into workers who had improperly accessed Bill Clinton's passport records ahead of the 1992 election, and also acted as a special counsel who probed Teamsters union corruption.
The couple represented Ukrainian businessman Dmitri Firtash, who was accused by the DOJ of bribery and racketeering. Giuliani, DiGenova, and Toensing also reportedly worked on gathering evidence of Joe and Hunter Biden’s corrupt dealings with Ukraine.
